PRAISE FOR THE FOURTH ANNUAL OXFORD FILM FESTIVAL (2007):

I hope to make it out to your festival again sometime; y'all have a good thing going on over there. — Sam Douglas, Holy Modal Rounders

Great festival!!!  I truly had a wonderful time, and my screenings couldn't have been better.  Thank you for the amazing hospitality, and the opportunity to connect with Oxford and all the other filmmakers.  I'm exhausted still, but had a very memorable experience. — Christie Herring, Bodies and Souls

This was my first film festival to attend and I just wanted you and the crew to know that I was really impressed and super thankful for the hotel and the gift bag and the chance to finally get to hang out with people who love to do what I love to do: make films! — J. Justin Pearce, Katrina Diary

Thanks so much for a wonderful weekend.  Good films, good people, and good vibes made for an excellent time.  Can't wait til next year! — Andrew Delmastro, Star Wars, 7th Edition

I had a very enjoyable time on Friday night at the film festival.   I thought it was a good audience at "Fraternity Massacre At Hell Island" and I enjoyed the Q&A afterwards.   I also want to thank the film festival for my GIFT BAG.  Without a doubt, its one of the nicer gift bags that I've gotten from a film festival.  My partner Ben, bought another festival t-shirt and we will wear them with pride.  I came down on Saturday afternoon and sat in on part of the Casting Seminars and saw "The Big Bad Swim" early on Saturday night.  Even though I didn't win an award, the ceremony was enjoyable and I thought the process of introducing the movies was very clever.  I'm glad you included my movie.  Having a "gay" movie helped broaden your audience and gave gay students at Ole Miss something to come and enjoy and to show that gay movies do come to Oxford .

I also think you had a few "gay adults" there as well from Oxford and the surrounding area. — Mark Jones, Fraternity Massacre at Hell Island

The Oxford Film Festival has been amazing. Really, really cool people running the show here. Lots of great parties. … Friday evening was our first showing. The theater was almost packed, and the audience was very enthusiastic. … Almost everyone stayed afterwards for the Q&A, during which the Oxford Film Festival committee presented Darius with a tube of wasabi!  Everyone thought that was hilarious. Later, we put some on popcorn and tricked him into eating it. — Logan Smalley, Darius Goes West (from the film’s MySpace blog)

Thanks for a great festival. Y'all did a really fine job. — Ralph Braseth, Press On

I have seen some of the best films ever at this festival and this is truly a festival that knows how to take care of the filmmakers. I am looking forward to another great day of films and southern hospitality! — Keith McDaniel, The Clinton 12 (posted to Withoutabox.com)

Thanks for everything. I had a great time and it was truly a wonderful experience. The hospitality was second to none. — Jason May, Coyote Funeral

Thanks for  a WONDERFUL weekend.  What a success!!!   Thanks again for all the work. — Ron Shapiro

Over the weekend, I probably watched around 15 hours of film - and I loved every second of it. But more than anything, I felt a resounding sense of inspiration. Sure, some of the films were incredible and required a huge team of experienced filmmakers, but many were completely bare-bones and simple. I encourage any aspiring filmmakers to complete and submit their films for next year's festival. Everyone has a story to tell. Everyone. — Caleb Moore, Review for The Daily Mississippian

I just wanted to let you know how impressed I was with the Oxford Film Festival.  The event served as my introduction to the town, and I loved it!  From the welcome bags to the special events to the luncheons and afterparties to the accomodations... it was all so well planned, well executed and "filmmaker friendly."  The programming was truly well-done.  There was a film for everyone and every movie I saw captured my interest in some way.  I really appreciate you letting me be a part of the fest.  It was motivating and makes me want to compelte another release just to come back to Oxford ! — Jeremy Campbell, Hexing a Hurricane

I thought the film festival was a big hit this year.  All of my friends who came said, "If I'd known it was this nice, I would've come long ago."  Good on ya!   It was a really great experience for me, good memories. — Luke Duncan, On the Water with Joe Mac Hudspeth, Jr.

It was such a joy and pleasure to once again participate in your wonderful community and your ever-growing Film Festival.  It was especially evident this year, just how much the film and music you bring the city offers so many joyful opportunities that wouldn't otherwise come their way -- and mine. — Jeff Scheftel, supervising producer, TV Junkie

PRAISE FOR THE THIRD ANNUAL OXFORD FILM FESTIVAL (2005):

I had a blast at the Oxford festival. Oxford is one of the most sophisticated towns in the South, its awesome literary heritage making it a natural showplace for filmmakers, its friendly population making for a very good time.
— Bob Clem, director of Company K

It was quite a thrill to play in the brand new, 1200-seat, state-of-the-art Ford Theater in good Ole' Mississippi! Everyone at the festival was so hospitable and made us feel right at home. We absolutely loved visiting Faulkner country for the first time and eating an authentic catfish dinner. The Filmmaker goodie bad was top notch! I wear my Oxford Film Festival T-shirt all around Los Angeles, and have framed the cool poster you, which now hangs on my wall. It was a wonderful trip.
— Cindy Baer, director of Purgatory House

Thank you for screening my film and for your hospitality. I had a great time and I applaud all the work you have done on the festival.
— Sally Hanley, director of The Green Bus v. the White House

PRAISE FOR THE SECOND ANNUAL OXFORD FILM FESTIVAL (2004):

I’ve been to a few film festivals and this is definitely one of the top ones.
— Andy Sacks, producer of 2004 Academy Award winner Two Soldiers

This is definitely the most original awards ceremony I’ve ever seen. You guys are building a great festival here. We look forward to coming back next year with more films.
— Darren Goldberg, producer of Blackballed: the Bobby Dukes Story, winner of the 2004 Audience Award at South by Southwest Festival

Oxford is a charming, kicked-back town with history oozing from it pores. The people have a knack for socializing and a respect for art. Its film festival sparkles with youthful vitality and ambition. It’s well organized and focused on quality, both in programming and presentation. While you're there, take time to visit William Faulkner's bucolic estate.
— Tom Huckabee, producer of Frailty

I was fortunate enough to be invited to attend the Oxford Film Festival as a panelist and was overwhelmed by the talent represented at the festival, along with the professionalism of its staff. Oxford is an exquisite town in Mississippi; so to be able to support new and emerging talent, view films, be among film lovers and experience a part of America's history all in one visit was like Christmas.
— Kerry David, producer of Perfect Romance, My Date with Drew, Agent Cody Banks

I’ve lived in the city (Los Angeles) all my life, so I’m having so much fun! And, oh my God, Ajax Diner is heaven!
— Ali Pomerantz, Los Angeles actor

PRAISE FOR THE FIRST ANNUAL OXFORD FILM FESTIVAL (2003):

To have the excitement of the importance of film rise in this town of literature and music was so tremendous — kinda like the first time I had iced sweet tea.
— Ron Shapiro, Oxford resident and former owner of The Hoka theater

I enjoyed the writers’ workshop — it was inspirational. The best idea was to focus the festival on writers. It really set this festival apart.
— Chad Henson, 2003 Oxford Film Festival attendee

found the festival to be a smashing success!
— Greg Cotten, 2003 Oxford Film Festival attendee

You all did a great job! I have been to a fair share of film festivals across the U.S. and around the world. The first Oxford Film Festival was among the best, not only because of the films selected and the venue, but also because of the beautiful location and the great southern hospitality!
— Adrian Belic, director of Ghengis Blues, winner of Sundance Film Festival Audience Award

I really enjoyed the weekend. Everyone responsible for the festival did a wonderful job. The trophy now sits proudly in my office
— Gary Hawkins, director of The Rough South of Larry Brown, winner of the 2003 Oxford Film Festival Award for Best Documentary

You’ve put together a great show. Iím really excited to be a part of it.
— Scott Taradash director/editor of the documentary Honeyboy

I cannot imagine a town warmer and more respectful to the filmmakers and moviegoers than Oxford. I’ve been to a lot of festivals since and few have held a candle to Oxford for integrating the filmmakers and town.
— Thad Lee, writer/director of October, winner of the 2003 Oxford Film Festival Award for
Best Short
